GHAi, NYFF Roll Out Change Champion Project Successes, Set to Host Change Champion Conference in January 2025

The Get Healthy Africa Initiative (GHAi), with the support of the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), has unveiled the remarkable successes of the Change Champion Project, a transformative youth empowerment initiative that has impacted communities across Osun State.

The six-month project, which commenced in mid-2024, empowered 30 young leaders with skills in digital advocacy, social media campaigning, storytelling, and community engagement. Through workshops, field missions, and collaborative networks, the project aimed to equip young Nigerians to champion social change within their localities.

One of the standout achievements is the story of Barakat Sanni, who used digital advocacy skills to launch a campaign for improved access to education for girls. Her efforts mobilized widespread support, demonstrating the potential of strategic online engagement.

Similarly, Tolu Morakinyo and Aanuoluwaposimi Mary created impactful campaigns addressing youth unemployment and gender equality, respectively. Their advocacy efforts, driven by compelling content and storytelling techniques, sparked conversations and actions around critical societal issues.

The project also included a Community Fact-Finding Mission, during which participants identified challenges in education, healthcare, and water sanitation in underserved communities. The data-driven approach has already influenced local advocacy initiatives, including efforts to improve clean water access in rural areas.

To cap off the project, The Get Healthy Africa Initiative GHAi will host the Change Champion Conference on January 11, 2025, in Osogbo, Osun State. The event, supported by NYFF, will bring together stakeholders, young advocates, and community leaders to celebrate the successes of the initiative and discuss the future of youth-driven social change in Nigeria.

During the conference, the GHAi Positive Change Fellows will be showcased and formally inducted as ambassadors of social change. This special recognition highlights their remarkable efforts and sets them apart as role models for youth advocacy in the region.

According to a statement by Jelilat Oladejo, Administrative Officer of the Change Champion Project, and signed by the Project Coordinator, Faysol Oluwakemi, the conference will provide a platform to showcase the participants’ achievements and highlight the project’s impact on community development.

The Change Champion Project has set a new benchmark for youth advocacy in Nigeria, emphasizing the power of digital tools, storytelling, and grassroots engagement to drive sustainable change. As the initiative concludes, the young advocates are expected to carry forward their skills and networks, ensuring lasting progress in their communities.

The upcoming conference promises to be a milestone event, solidifying the project’s legacy and reinforcing the role of youth empowerment in shaping a better future for Nigeria.
